Inspiring Change

What is counselling?

Counselling is a professional and confidential process that provides emotional support, guidance, and understanding to individuals seeking help and support in various aspects of their lives. It is a collaborative journey where you, as the client, work closely with a trained professional to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The counsellor's role is to create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to work through your challenges, emotions, and concerns.

Why Counselling?

Often we get stuck in a cycle of unhelpful thinking that creates barriers for moving forward. We become disconnected from who we were and who we want to be and find ourselves unable to move at all. Overcome with anxiety, lacking confidence and trust in our abilities and weighed down with the responsibilities of life.

Through counselling, you can gain deeper insights into your emotions and behaviours, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and develop coping strategies to navigate difficult situations. Whether you are facing personal, relationship, or work-related issues, counselling offers a supportive environment to explore your thoughts and feelings, enabling you to make positive changes and improve your overall well-being.

Person-Centred/Value Based

Person-centered value-based counselling is a humanistic approach that places the individual at the core of the therapeutic process. It emphasises the importance of empathy, understanding, and unconditional positive regard for the client. In this approach, the counsellor seeks to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment, where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts, emotions, and concerns freely.

The focus is on honoring each person's unique values, beliefs, and experiences, guiding them towards self-discovery and growth. By aligning the counselling process with the client's values and goals, person-centered value-based counselling fosters a deeper understanding of oneself and paves the way for positive transformation and lasting change.

Trauma Informed

Trauma-informed counselling is a compassionate and empowering approach that recognises the widespread impact of trauma on individuals' lives. In this therapeutic model, counsellors work collaboratively with clients, acknowledging the effects of past traumas and their potential to shape current experiences and behaviours. The focus is on creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel validated and heard, without retraumatisation.

By integrating trauma-informed principles, counsellors prioritise sensitivity, respect, and choice, allowing clients to reclaim control over their healing journey. Through this process, trauma-informed counseling aims to facilitate resilience, foster emotional growth, and empower individuals to move forward on their path to recovery.
